Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about online therapy, insurance, and what to expect when you reach out.

Do you accept insurance for online therapy in Illinois?

Yes. Turn On the Light Therapy Services accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Cigna / Evernorth, Aetna, Optum / United Healthcare, and WebTPA. Private-pay rates are also available. Insurance benefits are verified before your first appointment.

What is online therapy like, and does it actually work?

Online therapy (also called telehealth or virtual therapy) takes place over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Research consistently shows that telehealth therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and many other concerns. You connect from wherever you feel comfortable — home, your car, a private room — as long as you have a reliable internet connection.

What should I expect from my first therapy session?

Your first session is a chance to get to know each other. Erica will ask about what brought you to therapy, your history, and what you are hoping to work on. You do not need to have everything figured out before you start. The first session is about building a foundation and making sure the fit feels right.

Do you offer therapy for ADHD in adults?

Yes. Erica Tonn is an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) with specialized training in adult ADHD. Therapy can help with executive function, emotional regulation, relationships, work challenges, and the unique ways ADHD shows up in adult life.

Do you offer therapy for postpartum depression and anxiety?

Yes. Postpartum depression and anxiety are among the most common — and most undertreated — experiences new mothers face. Erica provides compassionate, evidence-informed support for postpartum mood disorders, including postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and birth trauma.

Is Turn On the Light Therapy Services LGBTQIA+ affirming?

Yes. Erica provides LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, which means your identity is not just tolerated — it is actively understood, validated, and supported. Affirming therapy means you do not have to explain or justify who you are in order to get the help you need.

Where is Turn On the Light Therapy Services located?

Turn On the Light Therapy Services is a fully virtual practice. Erica Tonn provides telehealth therapy to adults throughout the state of Illinois. There is no in-person office — all sessions take place online via a secure video platform.
